Types of French student visas: 
1. ‘Schengen’ short-stay student visa

This short-stay Visa is also known as Visa de court séjour pour etudes. If you want to study in France for up to 3 months, you can opt for this Visa. 

2. Temporary long-stay Visa

Also known as Visa de long séjour temporaire pour etudes, this Visa is applicable if the duration of your study program is between 3 to 6 months. 

3. Long-stay Visa

If you want to study in France for more than 6 months, this Visa is for you. It is also known as Visa de long séjour etudes. Interestingly, it covers the entire duration of your course, i.e., 2 to 4 years, depending on your study program. 

Documents required:
  1. A valid passport
  2. 2 latest passport-sized photographs 
  3. Letter from your respective university to confirm your admission. 
  4. Proof of funds states you can financially support your stay when you study in France.
  5. Flight reservation
  6. Updated CV with a cover letter 
  7. Medical health insurance
  8. Your academic records and mark sheets 
  9. Proof of accommodation stating your living arrangement for at least the first 3 months of your stay.



How to apply for a French student visa
  1. You can visit the official Campus France website and create an account. 
  2. Please read the instructions carefully before proceeding with the application process.
  3. Enter all the details, including the academic years, scores, the name of the previous varsities, and more, to complete the application process.
  4. The application process is intuitive for students who aspire to study in France. The application form has 5 categories that will capture your plans, your personal details, information of your previous Visa, if any, data related to your stay, and your contacts. 
  5. Once you have entered the data correctly, you can download the Cerfa Form. 
  6. After completing the application form, you will be required to upload all the necessary documents in PDF format.
  7. You can schedule an appointment at the visa centre.
