Australia is a great place for students to pursue their further education. Universities in Australia receive many applications every year from around the world. This is because Australian Universities offer a wide range of courses for the students to choose from. The best part is that the tuition fee that these universities charge is quite affordable despite the high quality of education that they provide.

Australian universities too, like other universities, have set admission criteria for applicants. You need to appear for certain entrance tests to be eligible to apply to these universities.

Here are some of the tests that are accepted by universities in Australia:

IELTS
IELTS stands for ‘International English Language Testing System’. It is one of the best language tests around the world. This test has 4 sections, which are Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. The time that is given to you to complete this test is 2 hours and 45 minutes. Usually, Australian universities require applicants to have a score of at least 6.5. But not every university in Australia has the same criteria, so students can find some universities that accept applications with a 5.5 score as well.

TOEFL
TOEFL, an abbreviation for ‘Test of English as a Foreign Language’, is another language test that is accepted by universities in Australia. This test, too, has four sections – reading, speaking, listening, and writing. However, this test takes much more time to complete as compared to IELTS. However, you should aim to score between 60 and 90 as universities are more likely to accept your application if your score is in this bracket.

PTE Academic
The Pearson Test of English Academic is a language test that all universities in Australia accept. Just like the previous two, this test also has the 4 sections of Reading, Speaking, Listening and Writing. Students are given 3 hours to complete the test. Students need a minimum score of 42 to apply in universities in Australia But you should ideally aim to score marks between 50 and 64.

CAE stands for ‘Certificate in Advanced English’. This test has 4 sections, which are Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking. The total time that a student is given for the test is 3 hours and 55 minutes. The time is divided in the following way – 90 minutes each allotted to the first two sections, 40 minutes for the third section and 15 minutes for the final section. GMAT
GMAT stands for the ‘Graduate Management Admission Test’. This test has 4 sections, namely Analytical Writing, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning. Students are given a time duration of 3 hours and 7 minutes to complete the test. Students have to complete the Analytical Writing section and Integrated Reasoning section within an hour =30 minutes for each section. Once this is done, students get 62 minutes to complete the section of Quantitative Reasoning, and 65 minutes for the final section, which is Verbal Reasoning.
