What is SPP PROCESS?

The Canada in India Student Partners Program (SPP) is a joint pilot project between Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s visa offices in India and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC).

Citizens of India who wish to participate in the program should contact one of the participating colleges for more information. The following is a current list of participating Canadian colleges:

Following a positive evaluation of the 2010 results, an extension of the Student Partners Program has been agreed to in principle with the ACCC, as well as an expansion to include some additional ACCC colleges.

SPP DEADLINES:

Visa Application Deadlines under S.P.P. Category are:

  • 1st August for Sep Intake
  • 1st December for Jan Intake

SPP ELIGIBILITY:

  • IELTS minimum 6.0 bands overall with no band less than 5.5 and student should have above 50% marks in 12th grade.
  • Other requirements can be demanded depending upon the nature of the course and college discretion.
  • For 1 year P.G Diploma requires 6.5 or higher bands and no bands less than 6.0 in each section.
  • For 2 or 3 years Diploma Minimum 6.0 bands and no bands less than 5.5 in each section
  • IELTS 6.5 or 7.0 bands overall for all Health related programs
  • Credit card is must for paying application fees to respective college

FINANCES REQUIRED:

  1. How much money you need to arrange?

Ans. The minimum funds you need to arrange to ensure that your visa gets accepted- one year tuition(as per university), fees (as per university)and living expense which is usually Can$10,000(as per Canada immigration norms) or can be more if accommodated in-campus by the university.

2.What all you can give as the proof of fund?

Ans. Education loan/Bank statements for last four months/ Bank draft in convertible currency/ proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees to the institution/a letter from your sponsor (company/individual) which includes proof of employment, bank statements, income tax returns, etc for the same/proof of scholarship from Canada if you have any.

SPP PROCESS STEP BY STEP:

1.     SELECTION OF UNIVERSITIES AND APPLY FOR ADMISSION:

There are many education consultants in market who offer counselling for free and also help with the selection of course and colleges but it is always advisable to check the authenticity and reviews about the particular course you have opted before applying. One advantage of using the consultants’ services is that they offer you regular follow-up of your application and update you with the status of it. Note: Mostly colleges listed under SPP offer courses which are eligible for Post-study work permit but still to make sure that you are on right track, go to this link to check the eligibility criteria for post grad work permit.

2.     Financial Preparation and Confirmation of Admission:

To confirm your admission, you have to pay tuition as per advised by the education provider in Canada. If the student is looking for Avanse Edu Loan, then he/she should produce the admission letter to Avanse and we will do the pre-visa disbursement for the required money to the student’s account and then we also facilitate the currency exchange through ICICI/CENRUM/COX & KING and then the amount can be transferred to the University via Telegraphic Transfer(TT) or Direct Debit (DD). Once, the University process the tuition they issue a receipt which is required for visa application.

3.     Medical Examination:

A medical examination has to be taken before applying for the visa by one of the Canadian Govt. approved medical centres.

You will be provided with a receipt (IMM1017) for the medicals, which you will need to submit at the time of lodging you visa application. The medical report will automatically be sent to the visa office.

4.     Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) with Scotia Bank: 

Provide evidence of purchase of a special Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from a participating Canadian financial institution currently it is only Scotia bank, for the amount of $10,000 CAD towards the first year living expenses. As a part of your pre-visa disbursement, Avanse also facilitate you to buy GIC.

OR

Students can meet the financial requirement by submitting a copy of the receipt for the first year’s tuition fee payment & a copy of an Educational Loan from an Indian Chartered Bank equivalent to $10,000 CAD.

5.     Apply for Visa:

You can apply for the visa online as well as offline.

You need the following documents to apply for a study permit:

  1. Proof of acceptance
  2. Proof of identity
  3. Proof of financial support
  4. Letter of explanation

6.     Travel:

Travelling expenses are also covered under Avanse Edu loan if the student needs.
